Cidade Velha - on UNESCO's World Heritage List

So every time you hop on the plane and fly out to Cape Verde you cannot tear yourself away from the clear water and white fine sand. When you do, you mostly like to relax around the pool in your villa. So even though you said you would, you never did get around to visiting Cidade Velha which is one of the 11 new cultural sites that have been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. Now you know that when you return to Santiago Island, Cidade Velha will be a must on your list of things to do.

Increased Flights to Cape Verde



TAP - Portugal Airlines has just made returning to your holiday home in Cape Verde that much easier. As a growing tourist destination, bringing in an ever growing number of Europeans looking for better quality at lower prices, the Portuguese airline TAP has found it lucrative to increase the number of flights between the capital city of Portugal and Cidade da Praia. During the summer months TAP will have a daily route leaving Lisbon at 22.10.

Investments between Cape Verde and Canary Islands Made Easy



Cape Verde Investments and Proexca Canaries Public Investment Office have announced the signing of a protocol that will facilitate and stimulate investments and projects in both archipelagos. A meeting will be taking place before year’s end in which further information and more significant measures will be announced.

Cape Verde in August

If you are thinking of spending some time in your Cape Verde holiday home, here is an important tip – the Festival da Baia das Gatas (Bay of Cats Music Festival) will be taking place, as tradition has it, during the full moon in August, which will be 7, 8 and 9. The artists invited to play are both Cape-verdian and from abroad, namely from Brazil, Italy and Jamaica. This will mark the festival’s 25th year, and as a special tribute, one of the events founders, Vasco Martins will be presenting a special number.

Better Quality of life in Santiago Island, Cape Verde.

This weekend the prime minister of Cape Verde attended the official launch of the public sewerage and water construction works in Santiago Island, Cape Verde. This project has received a joint investment from the Cape Verdean government and EU and in addition to the network system ,will also be connecting homes to the system.
“This is an investment which has immediate impact on the lives of the people by making their quality of life better” said José Maria das Neves.

Cape Verdean wins Portuguese Literary Award

The most prestigious award of the Portuguese speaking community around the world, the Camoes Prize, was awarded yesterday to Cape Verdean poet, writer and journalist Armenio Vieira, a Santiago island natural born in 1941.
